so I need all of your opinions. Something I have been thinking about off and on for a couple of months. I think I have mentioned how my GM at Chilis is a female and she is always acting very unprofessional with the male servers and the cooks, both in favortism ways and just touching them inappropriately for attention and loving it when they touch her, etc. This still goes on on a regular basis and I am so tired of seeing it and hearing stories from other people. And I know I am not the only person there who notices it and thinks it is wrong and doesnt like her because of it. So I was considering contacting the district manager and let him know. But I dont know if I should. I think that whatever I tell him will be confidential and he wont be allowed to disclose who told him to her, but still I am wary. Is it worth it to do so? I mean I am not trying to get her fired or transfered, nor do I think one person saying something to him about it would cause that to happen. I imagine all that would happen would be that he would tell her that an employee told him that she acts inappropriately with the men, yadda yadda which I am sure she will deny but hopefully that would get her to fix her behavior. But I also imagine it would cause her to be a raving bitch for a while, especially towards all the females cause I am sure she would figure it must be a woman who reported her and all that. So, I dont know, what do you guys think? Do you think myself or someone should tell the district manager about her behavior? |

I think you should forget about the someone else-thing. If it REALLY bothers you and you really feel within yourself that someone shoyuld talk to her, then do it. Ideally, you would tell her yourself but that can turn pretty nasty and it's not worth it. If something is bothering you, you do something about it. So, I would go ahead and talk to a superior. You don't know how she might react for certain. She might see the error of her ways. or, she can be a bit bitchy. However, her being bitchy has nothing to do with you. It is her behaviour that caused someone to pull her chain and have a little chat about it. Just make sure for yourself that, when you do decide to talk to someone about it; you do it for professional reasons and really to optimize team morale and productivity rather than annoyance. But, do something. |

right that is one reason why I am unsure. it does annoy me to no end, and I want to make sure I dont do it just for that. But it does affect things at work. A recent example that a server told me about was a few weeks ago this male server named Chris, who I guess must have been her "favorite" that particular week (every week she has a new favorite male server and or cook which she always announces to others) anyway he didnt clean his station properly at the end of the night. The closing server kept asking him to sweep the floor under his tables, which is what we all have to do every night, and he left without doing it. And the closing server noticed after he left that he STILL did not do it and reported it to Jess (the GM) and she said to the closing server "I dont care, I love him, he is my favorite." so basically she said it was okay for him to not finish his job responsibilities because she likes him. WTF? She would NEVER do that with a female server! And she shouldnt do it with ANYONE. Even if she likes some servers more than others, all of us should be treated the same and should perform all of our job responsibilities and be held accountable if we do |

Business is slow at the new Chili's, right? Anyhoo, I see your predicament. All you can do is to decide for yourself if you want someone to talk to her about it or not. If so; go ahead and do it.There is nothing worse than being in a shite situation and do nothing about it when you actually have options. Aren't there other places than Chili's that you would consider working for? I'm sure there is tons of different things that you are capable of doing. You work as a beautician, you have worked in Social services... |

Rodney I am also doing the facial thing, I work at Chilis to compensate. Some weeks I dont have enough appts, it takes a long time to build up regular clientele so in the mean time I am waitressing which helps a lot because even on a slow night at least I know I am going to go in and make some money, as opposed to none at all which happens if I have no appts at the spa. I could go to another restaurant, but I really dont feel like having to train all over again and learn a new menu and new people, I mean it is not a huge deal but kind of a pain and an annoyance, you know? And social work fuck no I could never do that again. No way! Anyways, so I sent an email to the district manager asking that I have some issues and if I talk to him about it would it be kept confidential? Would he not tell her who was the one who reported her? I got an email back from him saying he could not guarantee that, it would depend on what the issue actually was. Fuck I dont want her to know who said something. Now I am really unsure |

I say snitch. You are only hurting yourself by letting her get away with this behaviour while you suffer. |

The job market in her industry is tough. I know, from Miguel, he's studying hard right now in the other room for his test next week, just to be a fucking waiter! |

I love working with difficult customers. Challenging. When they're right; they still have to come to you and you are the one who can resolve the problem...heheheh If they're wrong(and in my previous field of work, they usually are);you can turn the tables and take the moral high-ground.teehee. I would'nt be able to work in the food industry, either. People work so hard and get relatively low wages.
Totally! That's why I said that you should really decide wether it's worth it. Is it worth the hassle? Does it really hamper you, professionaly? How important is the Chili's job to you? If you're really passionate about that job;then go ahead and do it.But, mind Jesse's advice! I have worked at major shitty companies but, always told myself: "i don't bring my job and the people home with me and I don't bring my home(i.e personal hang-ups) to work. I always kept my eyes peeled if things got bad and looked around for new places and left without any drama!
I know. But, just in case it becomes too shitty at work for whatever reason; I think that, with your experience, you can do so many other things to compensate the beauty-job? With more money? Like Market Research...it's boring but, most of the time they have flexible hours, a set wage. And sure, the job is souldestroying and boring. But,the pay is good and they have no targets and you don't have to sell to people, like in Telemarketing. |

I wouldnt say that I am passionate about working there but I like working there, I enjoy the majority of peeps I work with, I made good friends. I like the food, I am used to how things run there, I like it. the only thing that makes me not like it is her and the shit she does, the shit she pulls. It isnt right. I am still on the fence. Just a few minutes ago I was thinking fuck it, dont rat, just transfer to the other chilis even if it isnt that busy there but I dont know, it isnt right and it isnt professional how she behaves and if no one ever says anything to the DM about it, she will continue to be so inappropriate with the males and unfair to the female employees. And other servers see it and dont like it, some have told me personally but will any of them ever do anything about it? Probably not, they will probably just put up with it. |
